OK ,let me describe what we experienced having just gotten off this AM. We were on deck 6 midship. When you sat in your bathroom (not mentioning on what) the vibrations would actually have you shaking on the john. Our TV screen shook constantly; I had trouble using a makeup mirror due to the shaking of the mirror. At night, our bed shook.
We noticed really severe shaking forward on higher decks such as on Deck 11 (forward) in the stairways. Large wall sculptures were making incredible noise.
Lower decks were also affected mid ship, aft and forward.
Deck 9 midship dining was not good; where plates were dancing and we moved dishes to see if we could stop the rattles from plates. Aft areas were also affected. Ceiling lights swaying (and NOT due to the sea movements). Whether the ship was at 10 knots or 18 knots did not matter. Vibrations were present also in ports.
I am not an engineer, but have cruised + 25 and never had this. I hope they work it out.
The seas were so calm so it cannot be put down as rough seas. We were fortunate in that aspect. Reason for this? I leave it to HAL and engineers. I was just a guest and feel relief to get off that ship.

While sitting at the table some young boys, probably 21, stopped by to play $20. I will not lie, there were definatly intoxicated but harmless and just plain annoying. The boy didnt quite know the rules so he kinda made a scene at the table and instead of handling it in a professional way the pit boss literally was making fun of him and his friends right to their faces...like telling them that they ran out of milk (saying that were babies) and should go home. I kind of felt bad for them, they were definetly embarassed.

some of the recent comments were

Front desk was usless when we were on them last month, talked to a very nice, very polite man and he said they said they would call security on him since they could not address his problem. You should always be able to get a manager.

I was on the Zuiderdam not too long before you and share your opinion of the front desk staff. On my comment card I was VERY generous - I gave them a 2. I'm sorry for your experience.

The concierge was also usless on our cruise, I heard people say how good Neptune and concierge was, not on our cruise ( we were in a sa cabin ).

We were on the Zuiderdam over Thanksgiving and the front desk staff smiled a lot but was generally useless. Took at least two trips there to resolve anything.

“You guys worry about AC problems about the ship. At least you guys didnt have to experience the TV turning on by itself between 2am and 4am. Happend 5 days in a row for us. Day 3 to day 7 out of 11 days. Phone randomly ringing around that time to a busy tone. No it was not a wake up call. Even saw some shadow in our room in the wee hours. Was confirmed also by the crew that they do experience stuff like that and have seen stuff.”

Overall, I had a great time but my biggest complaint was with the Pinnacle restaurant.
I had the spicy chicken coconut soup on the Veendam in August and had been raving about it to my friends and dreaming of having more on this cruise. We had booked the Pinnacle for LeCirque and Saturday night but I couldn't wait til Saturday for that soup-it isn't served anywhere else-so I booked us for Tuesday as well. One other person in my group had had this soup as well.
The soup came and tasted like green peppers; every other flavour in that soup was not there. The Veendam version had no green pepper. I'm a foodie and this soup had been the highlight of my Veendam food experience. Maitre'D said sorry and she would tell the Chef I hadn't liked it.
I couldn't let it go-my soup obsession had just got started. I went to the Neptune Lounge-Fay, Kay and Margaret-and they were amazing. Margaret searched all over and the next day she brought the recipe to my room. The recipe mentions green, red and yellow peppers as part of a fou fou salad to go on the side. The direction to put the peppers on the side is the very last direction.
I took the recipe to the Maitre'D in the Pinnacle and asked her if the Chef had maybe not noticed the last direction to put the peppers on the side. She looked at hte recipe title which said Thai CCS instead of Spicy CCS and said this wasn't the recipe and it had changed last year-she did acknowledge that the soup I had in August would have been the new soup recipe. Basically, she just said "tough luck" in so many words. All I wanted was someone to say that they would make another soup for me that was more consistent with what I had on the Veendam.
We cancelled our Saturday reservations.
